You need an account to sync across devices; anonymous tracking on a single device needs no account at all. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for what happens under your account.
Some connections use official, documented APIs (Steam, Trakt). Others use community methods because the platform publishes no public API (PlayStation, Xbox, GOG, Epic). Those are opt-in, clearly labelled, and can stop working without notice. When they break, your existing data stays exactly where it is, and manual entry always remains available.
Metadata and artwork belong to their providers and rights holders and are used under their terms. Ordering, stop points, canon verdicts, and universe notes are Fanboy's own editorial work. Your reviews and notes are yours; we only display them publicly when you choose to.
